As I sit to reflect on how much I have missed having our Aunt LaRue Dorsey with me during holidays, I have to thank God for the memories McDowell Funeral Home created for us. From the time I received the call that my Aunt LaRue had transitioned to glory, I knew exactly who to call to take care of her. My family and I wanted Aunt LaRue to be cared for in the best possible way because she was loving, caring, and did everything with excellence. I made the call to McDowell Funeral Home. Lois McDowell answered the line and assured me that she would take good care of the matriarch of our family.
When my family and I went to our appointment to make arrangements for the Homegoing Services, the attendants gave their condolences, then welcomed us into a room so that we could make economical and sound decisions. McDowell Funeral Home was compassionate and caring, as they had assured us earlier in the week. They kept my family informed every step of the way during the process, along with checking to see if we needed anything.
Additionally, when it was time for the family to view Aunt LaRue before the public had an opportunity to pay their respects, we were amazed of how eloquent she looked. Seeing the smile on her face presented the life she lived. The sanctuary was clean and exquisite, also.
I encourage you to choose McDowell Funeral Home if you ever lose someone that is dear to you. Lois, Andrea, and Clifton will become the family you need during your loss.
Thank you, McDowell Family, for your unwavering love and support during our time of loss.
The McDowell Family (Andrea, the late Lester and Lois (my other classmates) has always done an excellent job during my time of need). Grateful for all you do. Be Blessed. Thank you.
From the very first conversation through the final farewell, the staff at this funeral home were compassionate, professional, and incredibly attentive. During one of the hardest moments of my life — laying my mother to rest — they were there every step of the way, making sure every detail was handled with care and dignity.
They listened closely to my needs, answered every question with patience, and treated my mother and our family with the utmost respect. Their guidance brought a sense of calm and reassurance during a time that can feel overwhelming.
I am deeply grateful for the care they provided, and I would confidently recommend them to anyone in need of funeral services.
The commitment to excellence is evident from start to finish! My brother (Wayne Alan Thompson) made us promise to get him back home to New Jersey in the event of his passing. Well, with our hearts broken at his transition in February of 2023, McDowell Funeral Home came to our aid. The process was handled with dignity and grace. Thank you for being there!
McDowell Funeral Home is the best, they have been there for us each time we needed them. May God bless each one who is a part of this great Establishment.
When my Mother died in 2014, and more recently, the death of my brother (08-31-20), I can truly attest to the fact that the employees at McDowell Funeral Home were sympathetic and attentive to our needs. They were able to guide and support us through each journey with patience and knowledge. And, they have a sincere commitment in rendering profound and professional services.
We are always interested in hearing from the families that we serve. Please take a moment to let us know how well we served you in your time of need. We very much appreciate your feedback.
