Willam Lewis Sr. Obituary

William Dean Lewis Sr. was born on April 18, 1938, in Antioch, Texas to Darnell Johnson and Mazell Davis. He was the oldest of four children.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Evergreen Primitive Baptist in Dawson, Texas.

He attended school in Dawson and graduated from  G.W. Carver High School in Dawson, Texas.

After graduation, William moved to Ft. Worth, Texas to further his career in Construction as a Concrete Finisher with advancement to higher positions.

Later, he moved to Waco where he met and married the love of his life for 47 years Viola Jackson until her death in 2014. 

William “Billy” was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a Trustee and served on many committees until his health began to fail.

At 83 years old, he departed this life on Friday, January 28, 2021, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Viola Lewis; daughter, Bridgette Lewis; son, Kenneth Jackson; daughter, Virginia Nell and sister, Ella Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Kerry Lewis (Stella) of Temple, Texas; Charlene Hornsby (Ural), Duncan Lewis (Tasha) and Billie Ellison all of Waco, Texas; William Lewis Jr., of Las Vegas Nevada and Larry Jackson of San Antonio, Texas; a great-granddaughter whom they raised, Bre’Aisa Hackworth; two sisters, Zelma Harris of Waco, Texas and Loma Johnson of Dallas, Texas; a devoted cousin, Elvern Washington of Hubbard, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; his devoted friends, Mr. Hugh Collins of  Ft. Worth, Texas; Mr. James Rhynes and Mr. Les Clark both of Waco, Texas; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
