Tony Massey

Tony DeWayne Massey was born August 19, 1959, to Joe and Gwendolyn Massey in Athens, Texas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Glynn, niece, Audrey and nephew, Paul.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Athens, Texas. After relocating to Waco, Texas, he joined Trinity A.M.E. Church.

He graduated from Athens High School. After graduation, Tony attended Hill County Jr. College in Hillsboro, Texas and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Throughout his High School and College years he received numerous awards for his basketball and baseball skills.

Tony was employed by Cargill in Waco, Texas for over 16 years until his health failed.

Tony was a very caring person with an infectious smile that will be missed.

On April 16, 2021, Tony and God had a long talk and He decided that it was for Tony to come home and rest.

He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories are: one brother, Joe (Ruth) Criner of Marshall, Texas; sisters, Carolyn Blanton of Chesapeake, Virginia; Victoria Kelley, Debra (William) Lee and Linda Beverly all of Waco, Texas; aunts, Mary Deveraux of Jacksonville Texas and Claudine Blakemore of Athens, Texas along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many, many friends.
