It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Ruby Porter, a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, on Friday, December 4, 2020. She passed while in her room at Williamsburg Village Healthcare Center in DeSoto, Texas. She was in her 74th year of life. Ruby was born September 26, 1946, in Coolidge, Texas, of Limestone County, a daughter of the late Lestine and Zachary Winn.
After her graduation from A.J. Moore High School in Waco, Texas, she married the love of her life Robert Foster Porter Jr. of Waco. She became a doting mother of three children, Yolanda, Bryan, and Michelle. She spent many hours at the ball fields, in the gym, volunteering at school functions, and transporting her children to games, dance recitals, practices, school, study groups and Church.
Ruby was a member of the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. She was a member of the Choir, Sunday School, the Women's Auxiliary Group, and a Deaconess. She faithfully attended Church until her health made it difficult to do so.
Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Zachary Winn. her mother, Lestine Winn, her brother, Sidney Paul Winn, and her dear friend Maureen Burnell-Bridges.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert F. Porter Jr.; daughter, Yolanda Giddings (Reginald) of Lacy Lakeview, Texas; son, Bryan Porter of Red Oak, Texas; daughter, Michelle Porter of Red Oak, Texas; daughter-in-law, Hope Porter of Red Oak, Texas; sisters, Claudia Proxter of Houston, Texas, Sandra Ann Wynn (George) of Waxahachie, Texas, Brenda Joyce Bledsoe (Charles) of Houston, Texas and Millicent Cole of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Lorenzo Porter, Hunter Porter, Brendyn Porter, Camdyn Fuller, Ceazar Jaramillo, Adonis Jaramillo, Lincoln Porter, and Hendrix Porter; great-grandsons, Kiaden Porter and Kashton Jaramillo; devoted friends, Gloria Degrate of Austin, Texas and Charles and Evelyn Long of Killeen, Texas; along with a brother-in-law, numerous sisters-in-law, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
