Obituary

Roy McChristian Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas on March 2, 1940 to Roy McChristian Sr. and Harriet Session. He was the eldest of Harriet’s six children.

His education started at B.F. Darrell Elementary School in Dallas, Tx. He then moved to Waco and attended J.N. Jenkins Elementary and graduated from G.W. Carver High School where he played football as a wide receiver.

He received his religious foundation at Faith Tabernacle as a child under the pastorage of his grandfather Rev. Ira Brownlow.

He joined Toliver Chapel under the pastorage of Rev. Joe N. Bedford and remained until his passing under the pastorage of  Rev. Dr. Jimmy D. Hunter.

He met his greatest love and soul mate Cheryl Reese in 1982. They later married on June 16, 2001, with close friends and family present. His family was especially important to him and they all loved and adored him. His wisdom will live on for generations to come.

Roy was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and an awesome friend to whomever he encountered. His spirit shined as bright as the sun and his smile was contagious. He was affectionately known as “Superfly” by friends because of how well he dressed.

Roy enjoyed golfing, playing dominoes, BBQ’n for family and friends, watching sports, and listening to gospel Fred Hammond and others.

Roy will be truly missed, and his legacy will be celebrated forever!

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, paternal and maternal grandparents, twin infant boys, his daughter, Beverly Kay Posey, and his son, Kenneth (Jeanie) Coleman Sr.
