Rev. Lester Anderson Obituary

Lester G. Anderson was born June 12, 1948, to WB Anderson and Willie B. Evans (Lenzy) biologically in Hillsboro, TX, and is preceded in death by them both.

Lester was reared and mentored by his Dad {Louis H. Lenzy} and Loving Mother {Willie B. Lenzy} aka “Billie”. Together they groomed Lester to be a strong, loving person with a huge heart through his youth and as he earned his education in Hillsboro, TX with him graduating from Peabody High in 1966. At the young age of 18, this teenager was drafted to serve in the United States Army in Vietnam. Lester had accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior early in his life so as a brave & honorable young man without any hesitation he quickly stepped up to the calling from the military and left to serve his Country.

The unimaginable ordeals he experienced in Vietnam quickly turned the teenager into a man who lived through many challenges in the foreign country of Vietnam. Lester bravely served his country and received an honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces.  He returned to TX and settled down in Waco, TX where he was blessed from his union with Katherine Smith to have the honor of becoming Dad to Dermika Smith, and then a daughter was born to them which was Dereshia Smith (Steckler). Dermika and Dereshia were the apple of his eyes at that moment and always. In Waco, Lester worked at the Cement Plant and in government services for troubled youth for several years until the ailments from the War continued to plague his body and retired as a Disabled Veteran and answered the calling to become a Minister.

Later Lester then moved in retirement back to Hillsboro and ministered in Hillsboro, Itasca, and all over in surrounding areas particularly at various Convalescent Homes and on the radio station KHBR as the Host & Moderator of The Prayer Band with Brother Les always opening with playing Something About the Name Jesus.  Brother Les delivered an uplifting weekly message and prayer to many loyal listeners. Lester could accomplish anything he set his mind to do and helped so many people and touched numerous lives through his unconditional Love and Compassion for others and spreading the word of the Lord. Lester never met a stranger and always had a forgiving and understanding heart.

In 2018 Lester married his soul mate Angela Bolden and from that union, he was blessed with 5 more children to welcome into his family and heart and that welcomed him. Angela and Lester shared a special bond that can never be broken and will last forever. They were there for each other each and every day even as she held his hand even in his last breath as he returned to the Lord God Almighty that he had served so faithfully. Lester had a personal relationship with God and was never afraid of death but accepted it as a part of life everlasting and as God’s will.

Lester is survived by his wife, Angela Bolden Anderson; his children Dermika (Spencer) Dereshia (Joe); Jessie; Trey (Paige; Kelsey; Mahogany and Channing. Also survived by his sisters Marie; Nell (Lonzo); LaShae (Rafael) and one brother Claude (Barbara) and one sister preceded him to glory Patricia (Curtis). He also leaves to survive a large host of ever so Special Cousins, Very Close Cherished Special Friends, wonderful grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; greats and great-great nieces and nephews, friends, supporters, other relatives and Fellow Ministers and Sisters and Brothers in Christ. And oh, how he loved and respected the Hillsboro Prayer Warriors Brotherhood members that faithfully came to his house to have prayer every week (Well done brethren, please continue your mission).  Lester touched the lives of everyone he met in some unique, special way and he will forever be loved and missed as Brotha Les; LG; Bubba; Big Man; Rev. Anderson and most fondly as a True Friend in Christ.
