Rev. Billy Outley Sr. Obituary

Reverend Billy Joe Outley, Sr. was born on April 10, 1940, to the union of Ollie Outley, Sr. and Erma (O’Neal) Outley in Abernathy, Texas. He was one of seven children born to this union.

He was a man with many skills. He was employed throughout the Central Texas area, but nothing made him more proud than being the Owner of Outley & Sons Roofing. Reverend Outley was also a licensed preacher and 36 Degree Mason. He spent some time trucking industry where he went by the nickname “The East Texas Chili.”

He was well known and very loved in the community. He will be greatly missed. He was a man with many talents. He played in the band and could play 5 instruments by ear, lead guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums, and saxophone. He was also a Blue singer. He played semi-pro baseball and football for the Dallas Desperadoes. 

Reverend Billy Outley Sr. departed this life on July 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Outley, Sr. and Erma Outley; one sister, Hazel White; five brothers, Ollie Outley, Jr., Edward Outley, Robert Outley, Lesley Outley, and Richard Outley; a daughter, Renee Outley; a granddaughter, La’Mika Outley and his favorite aunt, Mae Lee. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Carolyn Outley; daughters, Patricia Outley Wiley, Sharon Outlet, and Carolyn Outley; sons, Michael Outley and Billy Joe Outley, Jr.; stepdaughter, Whitney Jones; twelve grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; niece, Ruby White; nephew, Paul White and a host of many great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
