Mrs. Joysland Green Buford was born on June 25, 1953 to Buck Shaw and Eddie Mae Brooks in Snyder, Texas.
She was a member of Wade Chapel A.M.E. Church in Prescott, Arkansas.
She was a family-oriented and hardworking woman who loved her family and others.
She was affectionately called “Mama Joyce” by many. Joysland was a mother and grandmother to all and there are so many other names and people that were a special part of her life.
She met and married Melvin Green Jr., to this union five kids were born.
On, Wednesday, April 28, 2021, she quietly transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home. She now joins her parents, Buck Shaw and Eddie Brooks; first husband, Melvin Green Jr.; granddaughter, Tiara Brooks; mother-in-law, Joris L. Green, brother, Alton Ray Shaw; sisters, Mary Helen Brown and Celia Ann Palmer and adopted mother, Ernestine Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, John Buford; her children, Maxcine (J.W.) Becks, Karl (Tammy) Wilson, Yolanda (Chris) Stephenson, Barbara Green, Betty (Anthony) Brown, Delvin Shaw, Montez Hill, Lakeisha Buford, Precious Buford, Martha Evans, Grady (Rashell) Thomas and Martina Hill; brothers, O.C. (Martha) Willingham and Carl L. (Queenie) Shaw Sr.; brothers-in-law, Ricky (Cheryl), Charles, Bruce, Carl, Jimmy (Valerie), Johnny (Cherry), Kenneth and Arthur Ray; sisters-in-law, Chery, Annie Mae, Paula, Amanda, Pearl, Marilyn (Willis) and Ramona (Felix Jr.); 24 grandkids and 24 great-grandkids; special nieces, Stephanie (Robert) Earl, Tammy (Desmond) Gulley and Barbara (Almer) Beal; God child, Nicolete Newman; special friends, Arlene Earl and Ollie Ruth Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including those in Texas and Arkansas.
