Graling Robert Wood was born on November 12, 1958 to Mr. Sam Robert Wood and Mrs. Billie Louise (Hood) Wood.
He began his education in the Compton Unified School District.
His spiritual education began at Double Rock Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Dr. J.L. Holmes Sr. where he was a faithful member of the youth department and youth choir until the family moved to Waco in 1976.
At the age of 16 years old, he attended Compton Jr College at night to obtain his Emergency Medical Technology Certification while going to high school during the day.
After relocating to Texas, Graling attended different churches until he united with New Branch Worship Center where he sang in the Choir and served on the Usher Board. In 2005, Graling was elected Usher Board President until he was unable to serve. He was a praiser.
His favorite scripture was: “I will bless the Lord at all times and his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” - Psalm 34
He loved to travel, breed and sell his dogs, and play bingo. He loved to cook for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
Graling leaves to cherish his precious memory: his sisters, Bishop Brenda Wood of Waco, Texas and Bonnie Wood of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Baryon Wood of Hubbard, Texas; nephews, Carl Simmons II and Garvin Jordan both of Waco, Texas; niece, Breea Sadler of Waco, Texas and five great-nephews and one great niece and a longtime friend and partner of 40 years, Charles Proctor and a host of relatives and close friends.
