Evelyn Delorise (Dancer) Talton was born November 19, 1951, in Mount Calm, Texas to the late Paul and Eunice Dancer. She was the first-born child into that union. At an early age, she was affectionately given the name “Tootie” a name that she would carry with her throughout her life.
Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age with Salters Chapel A.M.E Church, and later in life, she joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church, in Axtell Texas. She was a faithful member of the church and choir until her failing health. Evelyn was gifted by God with a heavenly voice that touched the hearts and souls of many people.
Evelyn attended and graduated from Axtel ISD and attended Paul Quinn College. She began her work at Progress Laundry and Cargill for many years. She retired from Baylor Scott and White in 2017.
Evelyn had a love for shopping, traveling, spoiling her nieces, nephew, and her husband. She took being the oldest to heart. Often calling her siblings “my children.”
On June 30, 2000, Evelyn met and married the love of her life, Bruce. Thereafter each anniversary was celebrated on two different dates June 29th for Bruce June 30th for Evelyn. Blessing them with twenty-one years of marriage.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Dancer and Eunice Burns Dancer; her paternal and maternal grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Bruce Talton; daughters, Ruth Humphrey and Louise Davis; brother, Leon Dancer (Anne); sisters, Linda Montgomery, Pauline Dancer, Lena Dancer, Shirley (Jimmy) Taplin, Gloria Dancer, Regina Dancer, and Yolanda Walker; sisters-in-law, LaShenta Talton, Eunicca Talton, Ruth Talton-Brooks and Patricia Wilson, devoted cousin, Louis Searcy, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
