Dorothy Hatter Obituary

Dorothy Benson Hatter was born April 6, 1933, to the union of Richard and Mandy Benson, in Levy, Texas. She was the 6th child of 11 children.

Dorothy was a member of Majors Chapel A.M.E Church in Golinda, Texas.

She received her education at Downsville Independent School District in Downsville, Texas.

She married Tom Hatter in 1952, to this union seven children were born, Emma, Patsy, Helen, Tommy, Corine, Larry and Daryl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom (1980) and children, Patsy (2002) and Tommy (2018).

Dorothy and Tom started their young married life in Abilene, Texas, but decided to return to Waco in 1953.

Dorothy had a 35-year career with Piccadilly Cafeteria, she retired at the age of 63.

She enjoyed gospel music, bingo, cooking, holidays with her family and most of all going to the casino every year on her birthday.

She will be greatly missed and cherished by her children, 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

On Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 9:55 p.m., she departed her earthy life and went home to be with her parents, husband and children in heaven.

She leaves a legacy of love to her beloved family!
