Clyde Hardin Obituary

Clyde Athens Hardin was born on November 10, 1941 to the late Willie R. Hardin and Ophelia Lockett Hardin in Riesel, Texas. He was the last of nine children.

He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age at Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Harrison Switch under the leadership of the late Reverend J. W. Wilkins. After the family moved to Waco, he joined East Waco Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America under the leadership of the late Reverend DeShong Smith where he remained for eighty years until his demise.

He attended schools in Waco, Texas. He worked for years at G.W. Carver High School, LaVega High School and TSTI as a custodian until he retired. He was a faithful, dedicated worker as his church.

Clyde loved to sing his blues especially “Bobby Blue Bland”, “Sam Cooke”, “B.B. King” and loved gospel songs. He loved to play dominos and shoot dice.

He was a spoiled baby even through his adult life. He knew his Bible and would argue you down to show him what you said was coming from the Bible. He might argue with you or get mad with you, but he loved you.

His burdens of this world came to an end when he accepted his Master’s call on Monday, February 14, 2022. Clyde was loved by everyone and he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews; a faithful, devoted, special cousin who was like a brother, Douglas (Mary) Woods; faithful cousins, Willie Mae Boyett; Sheila Stramler and Tameka (Zach) Griffin and many more cousins and friends.

He is at peace, happiness and joy with his parents and siblings. He is no longer in pain and no more discomfort. He was ready to go join the family in their home, but he had to get fitted for his wings. If you ever want to talk to Clyde, he is listed in the Good Book on every page. You do not have to worry about getting a busy signal, his line will always be open 24/7.
