Son of Jim and Adelle Pennington Edwards, Deacon Bob Wallace Edwards was born August 3, 1926, and made his transition to be with the Lord on Monday morning, January 29, 2024.
Deacon Edwards led a rich and full life. He attended Paul Quinn College and served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army. He retired from General Tire after over 30 years of service.
Deacon Edwards met and married Frankie Giles, and to this union, three children were born Rachel, Ralph, and Gale. Upon his wife’s death in 2008, the Edwards had been married for 58 years.
A member of Toliver Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for many decades, Deacon Edwards served in many capacities, particularly as a deacon, usher, and child of the Most High God. In most recent years, Deacon Edwards loved his weekly travels to the cattle auction in West, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and all his siblings and their spouses, T. Walter (Bertha) Chaney, Alonzo (Myrtle) Chaney, Lafayette (Vera) Chaney, Theresa (J.L.) Crawford, Willie Jean Edwards, Jobie (Rosie) Edwards, and Dorothy (Boots) Givens. He was the last one standing.
He is survived by his children, Rachel (Dale) Mitchell, Ralph (Barbara) Edwards and Gale Edwards; granddaughter, Rochelle Waites, and a host of other family members and friends.
